Resort Review Zermatt - Families
„Zermatt“ – Only recommendable to families with children who already have enough skiing experience!

„Zermatt“ is not a typical family resort. The fact alone that the resort consists of 313 kilometers of slope and 5 base areas can make it somewhat stressful for a family vacation. Should parents however be willing to take very good care of their children while out on the slopes, or willing to drop them off at one oft the ski schools, you can be sure of an unforgettable ski holiday in „Matterhorn“ village. At the base station of the 6-passenger chair-lift „Trockener Steg- Furggsattel“ you’ll find a 100 meters long rope lift, just perfect for practicing. At the mountain station of the „Furi-Schwarzensee“ gondola you’ll find a small childrens area with a magic-carpet-lift to take your kids up and around the kids park. A little fun enhancing slalom parcour is also available there. Should families be looking for easy (blue) terrain, they should take the „Gornergratbahn“. From its mountain station you can take the nice easy (blue) descents Nr. 36, 37 and 38. Additionally the area around the „Theodul“ glacier, as well as at the resort area „Breuil-Cervinia“ feature several easy (blue) runs. With respect to ticket prices and almost everything else there, „Zermatt“ is the most expensive resort in the entire Alps.
