Winter fun is guaranteed on the highest mountain in Lower Saxony. Especially for beginners and families as well as for slightly advanced skiers and snowboarders, the ski area at up to 1,000 meters is perfectly suited.

Beginners have almost the entire ski area at their disposal with numerous blue marked slopes. First you take the gondola lift from Braunlage or the chair lift from the base station Hexenritt up to the Wurmberg, the highest point in the ski area. Then, one gets back to the valley by the panorama ski run alongside the gondola and further by the valley run Braunlage. Beginners can also take the Obere Große Wurmbergabfahrt. With a length of 1.300 metres, it is a little shorter than the panorama ski run, but it leads, further over the ski path middle station and the valley run Braunlage, also back to the valley. The Untere Große Wurmbergabfahrt is also worthwhile. With a length of 2,650 metres, it is the longest run in the ski area.

Advanced skiers take the three red marked runs at the top station on the Wurmberg. Via the Hexenritt ski route and the Sonnenhang downhill run you come back to the two blue-marked runs Hexenwiese and Walpurgishang and thus again to the base station at the Hexenritt. The north slope is also of medium difficulty. It ends at an altitude of 875 metres, from where you can reach the summit of the Wurmberg again via two T-bar lifts.

The right downhill run for sporty riders is the Hexenrittpiste, which also starts at the summit of the Wurmberg. Via the upper ski path as well as the slopes Hexenwiese and Walpurgishang you reach the base station of the Hexenritt. It is the only black marked downhill run in the ski area and therefore the clear highlight for all demanding skiers and snowboarders.

The gondola lift takes you from Braunlage to the start of the 1,600 metre long toboggan run. This leads rapidly back down into the valley and can also be used after dark thanks to the floodlights.

Snowtubing is also great fun. There is a separate tubing area in the ski area at the multi-ski lift on the Hexenritt. Here you race down the slope on large rubber tyres.

Directly at the top of the Wurmberg there is a ski jump with an observation tower, which is also worth a visit.
