Chamrousse – the former Olympic Games Host guarantees fun, action and recreation
Chamrousse came into being in the 1960s on the occasion of the Olympic Wintergames. Located 30km from Grenoble it has become Grenoble’s landmark ski resort which results in being very well frequented on the weekends.
The landscape of the mountain naturally segregates skiers of different levels as one part of the resort is rather flat the other part however quite challenging. This means beginners don’t have to contend with a stream of intimidating double-black daredevils on their training ground, while experts will ski alongside like-skilled counterparts. Chamrousse is also home to the renowned Casse-Rousse-trail, where legendendary Claude Killy won the Gold medal in 1968.
Chamrousse spells familiy friendliness with a capital F! Which led to being awarded the “Les p’tits montagnards”, a price given to extraordinarily family friendly resorts. Excellent child-daycare, day nurseries and ski courses catering especially to children are only some of the many family friendly features.
But Chamrousse is not only a great destination for alpine skiers and boarders! There are many alternate winter activities for young and old such as 55 km of cross-country-ski-tracks, 3 km of sledge-dog tracks, car-driving-lessons on ice, skidoo, or snowshoeing.
