Olympic skiing fun
Right in the middle of an incomparably beautiful landscape lies the small village of Cortina d´Ampezzo, famous for the 1956 Olympic Winter Games. Nowadays it has become predominantly touristic and is closely interconnected with five different ski resorts by the region´s shuttle network. The black slopes are rated among the hardest descents in the Dolomites. Here, experts find a true challenge. Advanced skiers will be busy exploring more than 70 kilometers of red slopes. Finally beginners can practice and enhance their skills on almost 40 kilometers of blue slopes until they are able to try out their first red slopes. Especially families will find the large dimension of beginners´ slopes attractive. Snowboarders looking for a particular kind of action can go crazy at the funpark which includes a halfpipe, rails and jumps. For those who love cross-country skiing, Cortina d´Ampezzo offers numerous cross-country ski trails with a total length of 78 kilometers. The trails are characterized by a breathtaking alpine countryside. For breaks there is a broad range of non-skiing activities like ice-skating, tobogganing or simply shopping downtown. For Après-Ski activities, there are many pubs and clubs to be found in the village.
