Investment in snowmaking

Over the past 2 years Falls Creek invested a whopping $1.88 million in snowmaking and snow grooming machines - it’s the largest snowmaking investment in 10 years! You’ll find shiny new snow guns along Wombats Ramble, Main Street and at the base of Drovers. Our mountain team will sigh if we don’t use the official terms, so, get ready to see these automated TechnoAlpin Snow Guns firing out tons of snow. In addition to this, they have a PistenBully 400 Winch and a PistenBully 400 Park grooming machine joining the team.

Falls Creek is one of Australia's largest ski resorts with an area of 450 hectares and rises above Rock Valley Lake in the state of Victoria. With no less than four fun parks, it scores particularly well with freestylers. Thanks to Australia's longest beginners slope, however, ski beginners also get their money's worth.

Three lifts lead uphill from the valley. The Falls Express is recommended for all beginners. The Snowsports School is at home at the summit and provides professional support for winter sports enthusiasts during their first turns. If you want to venture out onto the slopes on your own, there are several options. Bloody beginners will find short practice slopes at the magic carpets Boardwalk and Mouse Trap, a longer run starts at the Drover's Dream Lift or you can head for the Monkey Bar T-bar lift. But the highlight is the downhill run Wombat's Ramble, which with a length of 2,2 kilometres is the longest beginners' slope of Australia.

Sporty skiers start at the summit on the blue marked – in Australia moderately difficult – downhill runs Powderkeg or Rapunzel's, which lead to the lake in a fantastic location, or take the Last Hoot run back to the valley station of the Falls Express. From the top station of the Falls Express you can also head towards Sun Valley, where more intermediate slopes await you.

A second access to the ski area is from the valley via the Gully chairlift, which leads to the Village Bowl. This is where the first ski lift in Falls Creek was built and the area is still the centre of the resort with restaurant, ski hire and service and other shops! For the little skiers there is the Snowplay Park, which offers a snowmobile course and a gentle toboggan run for small children. Beginners should take the Eagle Lift, where green marked slopes lead back to the Village Bowl. From the top station of the Village Bowl, sporty riders can also reach Sun Valley. Those who enter the Lift Summit at the Village Bowl should feel safe on the boards. Only difficult pistes start at the top station. More black-marked runs await pros when they take the International T-bar lift in the valley. In the area The Maze they can then let off steam on steep slopes.

Falls Creek is best known for its four snow parks. Young freestylers can practice at the Fox Trail Park at Lift Drover's Dream. The setting of the obstacles is adapted to children and there is also an igloo. For older freestylers who want to gain even more experience, the Panorama Park is just next door. The park also scores with its location overlooking Rocky Valley Lake. Professionals among the freestylers are best off to the Ruined Castle Advanced and Ruined Castle Expert Park at Sun Valley. While the Advanced Park offers long lines and medium to advanced obstacles, only professionals should venture into the Expert Park.
