Feuerkogel in Winter - the friendly ski resort
The Feuerkogel, Upper Austria’s most beautiful high plateau of all, is enticing with its family friendly pistes, fantastic 360 degree panoramic view to the Dachstein and of the lake region, cosy Alpine huts and lots of sporting opportunities for an unforgettable snow experience in the heart of the Salzkammergut! Very good accessibility from Ebensee am Traunsee to the middle of the memorable mountain village, via the Feuerkogel cable car at 1600 metres. For laid-back winter athletes, beginners and families, the little ski circus on the high plateau which has a double chair lift, five drag lifts, two children’s lifts and the best prepared pistes guarantees dependable skiing pleasure. Neuhuber Ski and Snowboard school is happy to help you, and also hires equipment and gives pro tips on the boards. More ambitious winter athletes will find the six kilometre long unprepared ski run into the valley a particular challenge; the Feuerkogel team also organise individual ski races with electronic timing, course setting and award ceremony. Depending on the weather, in the Christmas and semester holidays the night-time ski run is a special highlight with floodlighting, music and Igloo bar. Those going on ski tours and snow-shoe hikers hold the most beautiful plateau of all in high esteem as a starting point for tours of all levels of difficulty, and many boarders are ‘live dangerously’ best on the slopes in the valley which have no tracks.
