Beneath the Bischofsmütze mountain there’s winter sports magic for everyone
Filzmoos is the perfect spot for a family ski holiday in the Province of Salzburg. This charming resort is situated right in the heart of the "Ski amadé" winter sports region, yet it is an oasis of tranquillity with a slower pace of life. Enjoy a friendly atmosphere in this family ski area, the slopes are usually uncrowded and lift queues non-existent. Beginners can practice their first turns with a sympathetic ski instructor, intermediates can get used to the feeling of boards beneath the feet once again, whilst the experts whizz down the perfectly groomed slopes. Skiers, snowboarders and walkers all get together in a rustic mountain hut to refuel with a hearty snack. Gourmet cuisine is also at home beneath the Bischofsmütze mountain. Johanna Maier, the only top female chef in the world, has returned to her roots and spoils her guests at the Hotel Hubertus. Winter highlights include "Balloon Week" (11th to 18th January 2014) with 40 hot-air balloons taking off daily from the Hammerwiese in Filzmoos and "Balloon Night" (12th January 2014) when the hot-air balloons are inflated and illuminated to music - a fantastic sight.
