Skiing beneath the Gitsch
Reaching 2510 meters, Gitschberg Mountain gave the ski resort its name: Gitschberg Meransen. Locals simply call it Gitsch. The ski resort lies at the altitude of 1400 to 2500 meters which ensures excellent snow conditions all over the season. Modern snow cannons fill in when necessary. Thus, skiers and snowboarders can enjoy splendid slopes from December to Easter.
Not far from Meransen´s center there are two drag lifts that take beginners and kids to the beginners´ slopes. Gitschberg itself can be reached by taking the Nesselbahn. The Nesselbahn is a cable car that takes advanced skiers and beginners to the reort´s most attractive slopes. The ski resort is particularly suitable for family skiing vacations. Those who long for some extra action can go crazy on the black Segerwiese slope.
There are around 21 kilometers of slopes in the ski resort (2 kilometers of black slopes, 10 kilometers of red slopes and 9 kilometers of blue slopes) provided by four drag lifts, two chairlifts and two cable cars.
