Snowriver Mountain Resort

The Snow River Mountain Resort, formerly Big Snow, located on the Black River, extends over 400 hectares and offers a total of 50 slopes to ski. This also includes Black River Basin, formerly Blackjack Mountain, and Jackson Creek Summit, formerly Indianhead Mountain. These are accessible via a total of 11 lifts, some of which were modernized in 2022. Snow River is the first ski area in Michigan's Upper Peninsula to have a high-speed 6-seater chairlift. Overall, the ski area is suitable for everyone, as there are enough slopes for every level of difficulty.

The refreshment facilities in the ski area have also been modernized. The "Legacy" restaurant and Dudley's Tavern invite you to linger with their new, expanded selection of food and drinks, as well as the renewed ambience. The cabins on the slope of Jackson Creek were also part of the modernization work and offer a completely new experience with their furnishings, pool and whirlpool. There are several room types to choose from, from vacation apartments and bunk rooms to standard hotel stays. With the so-called "Ski & Stay Packages", you can save up to 50% on accommodation. These are offered all year round, but there are also other, changing offers.

The Snow River Sports Center offers ski courses for young and old. Snowboard courses are also available on request. Whether it's your first time on skis or you just want to improve your skills, the sports center offers the right course for everyone. In addition to community courses, group courses and private courses are also available.

Coming from Minneapolis, take the 135W north to Duluth. Then, take the US-2 east to Blackjack Mountain, followed by Indianhead Road in Wakefield Township. (362 kilometers / 4.5 hours).

From Milwaukee you'll take the US-41 north to Oshkosh. Then, follow the 110 west to the US-10 and continue west to 139 Stevens Point. Take the US-51 north to Hurley and the US-2 to Indianhead Mountain. (515 kilometer / 5-7 hours).
