Kronplatz Holiday Region

Plan De Corones in Italian, Kronplatz in German, the famous “baldy“ ski mountain is a major destination serving more than a dozen ski resort villages below in Italy’s South Tyrol region, just south of the Austrian border. The local valley, known as the Pustertal, includes both comparatively large resorts such as Bruneck/Percha, San Vigilio di Marebbe and Olang– all linked by direct gondola services, of which the area has a world class 22 different gondolas to choose from, as well as smaller options such as St. Lorenzen, Gsies – Welsberg – Taisten, Pfalzen, Rasen, Kiens, Terenten, Gais - Uttenheim and San Martino in Badia. Kronplatz Mountain is 2,275 metres high and the high capacity gondolas provide an impressive hourly uplift of 64,000 skiers per hour people per hour from all lifts combined. Snow cover is largely guaranteed thanks to a 40 strong snow-making team of people working 24 hours a day managing 264 snow guns, computer terminals and the latest snow making technique. 32 snow groomers work each night to prepare the slopes. It provides an impressive 114km of ski runs, and state-of-the-art grooming and snowmaking ensure that snow-sure skiing is guaranteed all through the winter. The Pustertal valley is part of the giant Dolomiti Superski pass which has 1,200km of piste on one lift pass. The Valley covers nearly 30% of South Tyrol and maintains strong traditions. The Dolomites on the one side, the Alps on the other make the scenery very impressive.
