Skiing like a World Champion

In terms of skiing, Lienz has it all! Boasting two skiing areas, Zettersfeld and Hochstein,
the town in the heart of the Alps is the place to be for every skiing enthusiast.

Spectacular finish area
Hochstein, the local mountain of Lienz, is the only stop of the FIS Alpine Women´s World
Cup circuit in East Tyrol. Held every two years, the next World Cup race in Lienz will take
place in December 2011. The world´s elite skiers will fight for the victory shooting down the
Schlossberg slope to the spectacular finish area, right in the middle of the town. This
unique atmosphere is one of the elements that give Lienz its particular appeal as World
Cup location. Many international ski teams regularly set up camp in Lienz in order to train
for their competitions.

Pure excitement
However, Hochstein appeals not only to World Cup racers, but also to ambitious hobby
skiers. The skiing area features an outrageously long downhill track: from the top station at
1988 metres a.s.l. you can carve down right into town (668 metres a.s.l.). The new combi
cableway (eight-seater cable car and six-seater chairlift) is very popular, especially among
families with young children. In the most easy and comfortable way you can get up to the
Moosalm, where you can find a gently sloped area, equipped with a platter lift. Hochstein
represents the ideal skiing area for parents who want to enjoy enchanting and challenging
slopes, while the kids can have their own fun in the children´s slope area.

New all-year-round toboggan run
This winter, Hochstein will come on stream with a brand new attraction: East Tyrol´s first
all-year-round toboggan run. On the 2,7 km long ride through the forest you will live an
exciting adventure and, at the same time, enjoy the stunning panorama of the town. The
new toboggan run is definitely a must for everyone who wants to get the best of Lienz,
having a lot of fun.

Ski Resort Zettersfeld
Skiing under the sun
Achieving a respectable 2000 hours of sunshine a year, Lienz boasts the title of being
Austria´s sunniest town and the family ski resort Zettersfeld is one of the most stunning
“sun terraces” of the Alps. In the surrounding scenery of the astonishing Dolomites you will
experience nature at its best, renew your energy and get a feeling of well-being.
Zettersfeld is equipped with 6 lift facilities at up to snow guaranteed 2278 metres above
sea level. As a counterbalance to the demanding slopes of Hochstein, this ski resort is
very appreciated among families and winter sports enthusiasts who simply want to enjoy a
relaxing day on the snow.

Child rate up to 18 years
Skiing at child rates until the age of 18? The special offer of the ticket network SkiHit
makes it possible! In fact, Lienz is the ideal destination for families with children. The ski
school Lienzer Dolomiten offers a wide range of activities for kids to enjoy all day long.
Whether you are looking for a ski programme for your youngster or just a day of child care,
if not quite ready for skis, with Bobo the penguin and the fully qualified ski instructors and
child care specialists your kids are in very good hands.

At Zettersfeld it never gets boring! The kids´ highlight of the winter season is definitively the
Kasperl puppet theatre. Every Sunday afternoon, children have the possibility to follow
Kasperl and his friends on their amazing adventures.

Immerse yourself in nature
Let your soul tangle on Zettersfeld´s sun loungers
Zettersfeld is probably the most beautiful sun terrace of the Alps. Away from the slopes, we
have put up sun loungers for you. Far from the hustle and bustle, you can switch off for a
while and leave the daily stress behind you. Just relax and enjoy the stunning scenery of
the Dolomites under a sunny blue sky. Soak up the magic of the moment and get a new
feeling of well-being and inner peace.
