An “Activity Mountain” and a “Leisure Mountain”: A Mayrhofen exclusive
Two mountains bristling with character, plenty of leisure time activities to suit every taste, leaving nothing to be desired – that is winter in Mayrhofen. The cold months here draw one and all to the Leisure Mountain Ahorn and the Action Mountain Penken with lots of highlights such as romantic igloo evenings 2000m above sea level or the ultimate party event Snowbombing – with top DJs and endless party nights. Moreover, there are 159km of snow-reliable slopes, the legendary Harakiri run, and, of course, the charm of the Tyrolean mountains plus countless innovations and improvements for a perfect winter holiday.
In only six minutes, the Ahornbahn – Austria’s biggest reversible ropeway – takes the visitors from the center of Mayrhofen to the mountain station. Once they’ve reached the summit, the adventuresome are quickly tempted by perfect slopes made for classy cruising and carving. And the sun deck boasts yet another highlight: once again this season, the White Lounge offers the combination of Igloo Bar, Igloo Hotel and exclusive party location.
While wallowers relax with style on Mount Ahorn, action addicts check out Mount Penken. The legendary Harakiri run, with 78 percent incline Austria´s steepest prepared slope, is a real test of courage. With various boxes, kickers and rails, the Vans Penken Park is one of the biggest snow parks of Europe and a mecca for freestylers. This season, freestyle novices can take advantage of a completely redesigned park for kids and beginners.
