Winter fascination in the «Haslital. Berner Oberland»
The holiday region in the heart of Switzerland, the Bernese Oberland, is tuned to snow sports people, winter hikers, friends of nature, those looking for peace and relaxation, culture lovers and families. Here winter is guaranteed to be an experience. Both winter sports areas «Meiringen-Hasliberg» and «Axalp above Brienz» have the reputation of being very attractive. 20 modern lift systems, among them the «Eagle Express» carrying 8 people in each cable car up to Planplatten with the panorama restaurant «Alpen Tower», cover a skiing arena with a total of 80 km prepared pistes up to 2´433 m., 40 km of winter hiking paths, 38 km of cross-country trails, 20 km of snowshoe routes and 15 km of sleighing runs round off the manifold range of possibilities. Here snow sports people find the best of conditions and authentic ski areas with charm. The Haslital has received the quality mark «Families welcome»! For kids there is an abundance of attractions. The «Skihäsliland» in Bidmi and the «Axiland» on the Axalp are the best of terrains for practice and getting experience in skiing. In the ski schools, children and teens learn the moves on snow playfully from qualified ski and snowboard instructors. It gets really exciting on the 500 m Tyrolian slide in Bidmi or in a rubber tire on the Tubing Slide. The Haslital has two marked «snowshoe trails», that can be used individually. One route goes from Schwarzwaldalp up to the Grosse Scheidegg. The second one is on Axalp above Brienz. Also the dwarf country where you find «Muggestutz, the oldest Hasli dwarf» can be explored in winter with snowshoes. This tour is available as a guided snowshoe tour. Various winter hiking paths make it possible to explore the winter landscape of the Haslital on foot. Special evening events such as Hut Magic on Mägisalp or night-time skiing on Käserstatt liven up the later times of the day. Sleighing runs are a must in a winter sports region. Special sleighing fun in the Haslital is to be had on the Grosse Scheidegg. Various cross-country trails are at the disposal of Nordic ski fans. A secret tip is the 15 km trail in Gadmen. You can choose from a multitude of attractive ski touring areas. Do you know the secret of a «Meringue» or do you know why master detective Sherlock Holmes is located for all eternity in the centre of Meiringen? The Haslital in the Bernese Oberland has many exciting stories to tell.
