With over 80 km of slopes and 22 lifts, Mt Buller is the largest ski area in the state of Victoria. It is only about three hours from Melbourne in the Snowy Mountains. The first ski lift was opened here in 1949.

On the northern slopes of the ski resort there are numerous blue (= medium-difficult) pistes that lead through the forests at Mt Buller. These can be reached either via the ABOM Express and the connecting runway or they start directly from the parking lot below the village with the Northside Express or Tirol lifts. The Shakey Knees and Home Trail runs are recommended. Professionals can also venture down black marked slopes such as Village Run and Chalet Creek or head up to the higher altitudes of the ski area. The chairlift Grimus, which leads to the summit, takes you to difficult descents.

Ski beginners should avoid the southern slopes at Mt Buller, because they won't find easy descents here. While the area also offers some medium-difficulty slopes - including the longest ski run in the area, Little Buller Spur - most of the slopes are classified as difficult.
