Location: Sunshine Village is located in Banff National Park, Alberta • 135 km (80 miles) west of the Calgary International Airport • Exit 8 km (5 miles) west of Banff on Trans-Canada Highway #1 Statistics Average snowfall: Up to nine metres annually: 364 inches (925 cms) Length of season: Nov. 10, 2011 (targeted) to May 21, 2012 Vertical rise: 3,514 feet, 1,070 metres Base elevation: 5,440 feet, 1,658 metres Top elevation: 8,954 feet, 2,730 metres Skiable area: 3358 acres Number of lifts: 12 -- 1 Eight-Passenger High-Speed Gondola, 7 Quad Chairs, 1 Triple, 1 Double, 2 Magic Carpet Tows Number of runs: 107 named runs, including chutes and bowls Longest run: 5 miles (8 km) Terrain breakdown: 20% Beginner, 55% Intermediate, 25% Expert Number of mountains – 3 -- Goat’s Eye, Standish & Lookout. Rogers Terrain Park – area’s largest, with 12+ acres of features. Hours Gondola opens at 8:00 a.m. and closes at 5:30 p.m. Saturday through Thursday. It operates until 10:30 p.m. on Fridays. Ski area lifts operate 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. (seven days a week). Hours are extended in spring. Ski School Instructors are members of Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance and Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors. Call 1-87-SKI-BANFF (1-877-542-2633) Sunshine Mountain Lodge The New Sunshine Mountain Lodge is an 84-room hotel situated at the top of Sunshine Village, at an elevation of 7,200 feet. The Sunshine Mountain Lodge is the only on-mountain accommodation in Banff National Park. Access to the hotel is by gondola only. It features a heated outdoor pool, sauna, exercise room, games room, Eagles Nest Dining Room, Chimney Corner Lounge and Java Lift coffee/pastry shop.
