Powder and Sun!
The new ski weather score is the easies weather report of the world. A simple scale from 1 to 10 shows you immediately how good the conditions in the ski resorts are. The bigger the number the better the condition! If a ski resort got the value 10 means that you can expect perfect skiing weather and a lot of powder. The only thing left to do is to put your skis on and hit the slope!
What is this ski weather score about exactly?
The idea of the ski weather score is to filter weather and snow data in order to give you a really easy to read information about the current skiing conditions and if it is really fun to ski today and the next couple of days. Houndreds of complex weather and snow values are reduced to a scale from 1 to 10 '1' means , that skiing is not a lot of fun at present in the ski resort. 5 or higher means that conditions should be alright. '9' or '10' guarantees perfect conditions for skiing the next 3 days. In general a ski weather score which is above means that the ski resort offers skiing with sunshine and a lot of powder!'. For those interested in details we split the ski weather score to two single values.

One value describes the result of the weather report of the next 3 days in the ski resort and the other one stands for the snow report in the ski resort. On the left hand side an example of a ski resort which has a ski weather score of 2 is shown. This value is shown with the blue bar. Right below this you can see why the score in this ski resort is not good at all. The snow report seems to be OK with a value of '4' but the weather forecast for the next 3 days seems to be so bad that the combined value can not be higher than '2'.

The next example shows a ski weather score of '8'. This simply means that the conditions are so good that you should hit the slopes immediately! The snow report has got the value '7'. This means that the snow depth either at the base and mountain station is very good. If additionally the weather report is good the ski holiday can begin

How is the ski weather score calculated?
The calculation of the ski weather score is made with 100 snow and weather values. Thereby the values of the snow report from the last 5 days, the current weather situation and the weather forecast for the next days are considered in order to calculate the score. The image on the left hand side shows how the current temperature effects the calculations. If the temperature is too high or too low the result is a very small value. Thereby the precipitaion is considederd as well. If you have sunshine and the temperature is +4° the conditions are certainly perfect for skiing But if there is a lot of precipitation which would be rain at this degree skiing is hardly fun.
Pverall more than 100 single values are inclued in the calculation of the ski weather score. Thereby the snow report of the last 3 days as well as the weather report for three days (including today) is considered.
How to use the ski weather score?
This is as well very easy. You can simply sort ski resorts of a country or a region by the ski weather score. Taking Austria as an example you just have to click on 'Weather' on the horizontal navigation. This list shows you all weather values of the ski resorts in Austria. Proceed by sorting the list by clicking on the 'Ski Weather Score' Button. The ski resorts with the best ski conditions are on top of the list now. Right next to the ski weather score the weather details of the ski resorts is displayed too so you can decide on your own which conditions are best for you!'|
Initially the entries are sorted by name. In this case ski resorts are displayed which do not have any snow and therefore the ski weather score is very low
