    Easily accessible freeride zones

The small ski area is also popular with freeriders. Because due to its high location above the tree line, Ankogel offers numerous deep snow descents off the groomed slopes in the upper part of the area. The medium-difficulty variant Ebeneck-Scharte-Böckstein (north-facing, 1100 vertical meters) leads over the Knallkar to the Böckstein train station. From there, you can take the train back to Mallnitz every hour and return to the ski area by bus. The south-facing variant Vordere Lugge (1000 vertical meters) is shorter and also easier to ski. After a short ascent from the top station, you ski to the striking Luggetörl. The wide terrain in the Vordere Lugge can then be skied over several variants. Before reaching the forest, you orient yourself at the intermediate station, get back on the slope and ski down to the base station.

However, due to the increased avalanche danger in this region, special caution is required for all off-piste excursions and appropriate equipment is essential!
